The last couple of weeks have been very, very busy. March is always an intense month – lots of client need to spend their budgets and complete work by the end of the tax year. This is some of what I’ve been working on:
- I published a new guide to SLAs for content teams (https://lapope.com/2026/03/13/service-level-agreements-for-content-teams/). I thought a lot about how something like this that seems bureaucratic on the face of it can actually be an act of care. An SLA can help make sure everyone knows where they stand. And that creates more space for the things that matter: the thinking, the craft, the content that makes a real difference.
- I started working on my new website with Bureau. After a couple of years of trying to rebuild my website myself and never managing to finish it, I finally gave up. Bringing in the professionals has already been a huge relief, and it’s incredibly exciting to see it coming together so quickly on the ThirdPress platform.
- I’ve been working on a taxonomy for a client, and ran a working session with both the digital team and the subject matter experts to stress test it by collaboratively tagging a sample of content. I got some really great feedback from the participants, who said they enjoyed being able to put it into practice together.
- I got my head down planning the next stage of a content strategy project. We’ve recently completed discovery, so it was a good time to take a step back and think about what we need to do (and who needs to be involved) in the best phase where we’ll define the fundamentals of the strategy.
- I’m trying to work out the logistics of taking a break. I’m experiencing some minor health issues that mean I’m exhausted and have less mobility/dexterity in my right hand. I know that I need to take some time off to rest and recover, but can see myself making the same mistake I make every year and failing to book any holiday. This is one of the hardest things to manage for me as a self-employed person, and something I’m determined to do a a better job with this year.
- Outside of work, I started doing something I’ve wanted to do for years: a plant medicine course. We started by studying some spring hedgerow classics: nettles, cleavers, dandelions, and violets. I’m loving learning about these plants, building a collection of potions, and living my best hedge witch life.
