Content folks are drowning in responsibility. We’re trying to balance user needs, stakeholder demands, team development, proving our worth, fixing systemic problems, and somehow also doing the actual content work we love. It’s exhausting, and it’s unsustainable.
The issue is that we’re asking too much of content, and we’re asking too much of ourselves. You can do a lot, you can make big changes, but you can’t fix everything. You’re one person. Content is important, but it’s not the solution to every problem.
The Control, Influence, Concern model helps you work out what to focus on by looking at the wider context and system you’re working in, and exploring the power and agency you actually have. It’s about doing less, doing it brilliantly, and doing it with joy.
I’ve been using this framework with clients for years to help them break out of reactive cycles and focus on the work that actually matters. This worksheet will guide you through the process step-by-step.
