RSS mini zine

Adding good friction and reflection back into processes.

One thing that has stuck in my mind from this week is going to sign up for an event that’s being hosted by sahibzada mayed and Ida Persson and being really struck by the sign up form. It asked:

I felt some initial frustration at the friction, because I was expecting the usual seamless sign-up experience. And then I felt lots of curiosity about the questions themselves, and enjoyed taking the time to slow down and answer them.

I worked on creating some information/advice content for a client. It’s been a minute since I did any content design work, and I’m enjoying using these skills again. I’ve been thinking a lot about signposting, sector collaboration, and how to hive off the parts of the topic that an organisation has the authority to speak on. With some of the topics the content covers, it’s tempting to go broad and provide a lot of context, when the charity’s expertise actually/remit is actually a much smaller area. I’m trying to boil this down into some principles to guide the decision-making in the future.

I wrote a proposal for a content audit project. I’ve really, really enjoyed work being quieter, but I think I’m probably about a week away from the point where I’ll start feeling anxious about not being busy and my pipeline being empty so 🤞

For fun/procrastination, I made a mini zine about why I think it’s time for an RSS revival for my Spite Village side project. Download it/read it here.
