1. What data I collect and why
When you sign up to my newsletter
I collect your name and email address via Mailchimp. I use this to send you ’10 Things’, my monthly newsletter and occasional updates about free and paid tools, events and more.
The legal basis for this processing is consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
When you contact me via my website
My contact form (powered by Gravity Forms) collects your name, email address, and message. I use this information to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to follow up about potential work together.
The legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest — specifically, the need to respond to business enquiries.
When you buy a toolkit
If you purchase a toolkit through my website, you’ll be taken to Stripe to complete payment. I don’t handle or store your payment details. Stripe collects the information needed to process your transaction. You can read Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
I may retain a record of your purchase (name, email, product) for accounting and customer service purposes.
The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a contract.
Website analytics
I use Plausible Analytics to understand how people use my website. Plausible is a privacy-first analytics tool: it does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individuals across sessions or devices. The data I see is aggregated — for example, how many people visited a page, or which pages are most popular.
Because Plausible doesn’t collect personal data, this does not require your consent.
2. How long I keep your data
I aim to keep your data only for as long as it’s needed:
- Newsletter subscribers: for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, Mailchimp removes you from the active list. You can also ask me to delete your data entirely by emailing me at lauren@lapope.com
- Contact form enquiries: I keep email correspondence for up to three years, in case of follow-up work or disputes.
- Purchase records: I retain these for seven years in line with HMRC accounting requirements.
3. Who I share your data with
I use a small number of third-party services to run my business. Each acts as a data processor on my behalf:
- Mailchimp (newsletter delivery)
- Gravity Forms (contact form)
- Stripe (payment processing)
- Plausible Analytics (website analytics, no personal data)
- WordPress/ThirdPress (website hosting)
I don’t sell your data. I don’t share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- access the personal data I hold about you
- ask me to correct inaccurate data
- ask me to delete your data
- object to or restrict how I process your data
- withdraw consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing from my newsletter)
To exercise any of these rights, email me at lauren@lapope.com. I’ll respond within one month.
If you’re not satisfied with how I’ve handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
5. Changes to this policy
I’ll update this page if anything changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. For significant changes, I may also notify newsletter subscribers.
