Content strategy canvas

Get your content strategy out of your head and onto one page.
Content strategy

Stop staring at a blank document

Content strategy can feel like a big, shapeless thing to document. The canvas gives it structure.

It’s a one-page template structured around three stages — Discover, Plan, and Move — that guides you through the right things in the right order. Based on the lean canvas model, adapted for content work.

Used by in-house charity content teams, freelance content strategists, and digital professionals working in the nonprofit sector.

What’s included

The canvas

A one-page template structured around three stages — Discover, Plan, and Move — with prompts to help you define your goals and challenges, your users and their needs, your content vision, guiding policies, key messages, topics, content types, and how you’ll measure progress. Available in Google Docs, Word, and Mural formats.

Why buy the canvas

  • Start with a structure. Instead of a blank page, you get a clear framework to work within — so you know what to think about and in what order.
  • Get it out of your head. Already have a rough strategy in mind? The canvas helps you externalise it, spot the gaps, and turn it into something you can share.
  • Lead with the right questions. The prompts push you to think about users, goals, and differentiators — not just tactics and content types.
  • Create something shareable. Walk away with a one-page document you can share with your team, your manager, or your stakeholders.

Who it’s for

The toolkit is for you if:
  • You work in-house at a charity or nonprofit and you’ve been asked to produce a content strategy — but you’re not sure where to begin.
  • You’re a freelance content strategist who wants a clean, repeatable starting point to bring to client work.
  • You work in brand, marketing, or comms and you want a structured way to think about content.
It’s been designed with smaller charities in mind — organisations that want a proper content strategy but are working on a tight budget.

Before you buy

This canvas won’t write a content strategy for you. You’ll need to invest time in working through it to get value from it.

The canvas is risk-free. If you’re not happy with it, email me within seven days for a full refund.

After you pay, you’ll get an email with a link to the canvas.

When you buy the canvas, you’re buying a licence to use it for your own content strategy work. You cannot sell, sub-licence, distribute, copy, translate, transfer, or otherwise make it available to anyone else.

The canvas provides general information about content strategy. It’s not specific advice for your organisation and unique situation. I’m not liable for any loss or damages you incur in connection with it. But you can upgrade to team access for an extra £5 per person – email me to get set up.
